Converse Renew
The Following is the history of Converse Renew product that I have worked on and designed in descending chronological order starting with the most recent releases. Each season, the team strives to work through creative problem solving in order to maintain business needs while creating the most sustainable product we are capable of at the time.
The product ranges from beginning seasons where the brand first gained access to canvas made from recycled plastic bottles, which the company was then able to scale throughout the brand and is now a staple material. Following seasons led to explorations of uppers made of undyed materials, or inherent colors from post manufacturing waste, and then working our way up to a collection of engineered knit models to reduce manufacturing waste and reducing the upper overall. There have been conversations in using minimal design principals to explore less is more philosophies, and at other times we have explored overlays that act as reinforcement for the longevity of the shoes.
The overall goal and purpose of this product range is to introduce sustainable methods, textiles, and rubbers into inline product, to then scale for the rest of the company to use in following seasons.
